Android has built-in printing. You can print photos, web pages and documents from your phone to a wireless printer without a cable. Here is how.

Last updated: October 30, 2026.

Step 1: Put the phone and printer on the same WiFi

Your phone and printer must be on the same network. See how to connect a printer to WiFi.

Step 2: Turn on the print service

Open Settings and search for Printing. Make sure the default print service or Mopria Print Service is on. Some phones also need the printer maker’s plugin.

Step 3: Print from an app

Open the photo, page or document, tap the menu, choose Print, select your printer, set copies and size, then tap the print button.

Use the manufacturer’s app

The printer maker’s app adds scanning and ink status. Add your printer there if the built-in service does not find it.

If your phone cannot find the printer

Check that both are on the same network, restart the printer and make sure the print service is enabled.

Printing Different Types of Content

From the Photos app, open a picture, tap the menu and choose Print. In Chrome, tap the menu and choose Share then Print, or use Print from the menu. For PDFs and documents, open them in the file or document app and look for Print in the menu.

Printing Over Wi-Fi Direct

If a printer supports Wi-Fi Direct, you can connect the phone to the printer’s own network and print without a router. Check the printer’s manual for the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.

Manufacturer Plugins

Some printers need the maker’s print service plugin from the Play Store. If your phone cannot find the printer, install the plugin, then enable it under Printing in Settings.

Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Confirm the phone and printer are on the same WiFi.
  • Turn the print service off and on again.
  • Add the printer manually by IP address if your phone offers it.
  • Restart the printer and the phone.
