Reviews Took publishes buying guides and product comparisons. This page explains how we choose the products we list, what our guides are and are not based on, how we handle prices, and how we make money. It applies to every category on the site, from laptops and tablets to printers, audio gear, cameras and security cameras.

What our guides are based on

We do not test products ourselves, and we say so on our guides. Each guide is built from the product’s Amazon listing, the manufacturer’s published specifications and documentation, and, where relevant, widely reported strengths and weaknesses of that product type. We use this information to explain what the specifications mean in practice, who a product suits, where it falls short and who should look elsewhere. Nothing on this site should be read as a hands-on test result.

How we choose products

  • We start from clear listings. We include products that have a full product name and clear specifications on Amazon. We skip results that show only a brand name or a vague title, because we cannot describe them accurately.
  • We cover a range. Where it makes sense, we include budget, mid-range and premium options, and products for different needs, such as wired and wireless, small and large, or beginner and enthusiast.
  • We keep categories separate. Each product group has its own guides, so that you can compare like with like.
  • We list weaknesses. Every pick has a “think twice if” note next to its strengths.
  • We avoid products we cannot describe honestly. We skip listings with unclear claims, obsolete components presented as current or unclear specifications.

Prices and availability

Where a guide mentions a price, it is the price shown on Amazon.com on the date stated. Some prices are converted from another currency shown to us at the time, so they are approximate. Prices and stock change every day, and the Check on Amazon buttons do not show a price, so always confirm the current price and availability on the product page before you buy. Guides that do not mention a price do so because we did not confirm one.

How we make money

Reviews Took is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you click a link to Amazon and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions do not decide which products we include or how we describe them, and we do not accept payment to feature or rank a product. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for the full statement.

Updates and corrections

Each guide shows when it was last updated. Product lineups change, so we revise guides and replace products that are discontinued or no longer match their listing. If you find an error, such as a wrong specification or a product that is no longer sold, please tell us through the Contact page and we will correct it.

Safety and advice

Our guides are general information. They are not medical, legal or financial advice. For topics such as ergonomics, wiring or electrical work, follow the manufacturer’s instructions and consult a qualified professional where needed.
